Kindilympics 2025

28 March 2025

On the morning of March 28, 2025, Dominican International School hosted the first-ever Kindilympics. Kindilympics is a sports competition for Kindergarten students featuring different Track events. It was the brainchild of Sr. Jean Bergado, O.P., DIS Preschool Head. She organized this event to strengthen unity, togetherness, and camaraderie among the Kindergarten pupils. Invited to participate were students from Taipei Non-Profit Preschool and Taipei Archdiocese Kindergarten.

Gracing the event were key personalities, Chief Executive Officer Fr. Augustine Hsu and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ms. Cindy Li, both of Taipei Archdiocese Kindergarten, and Ms. Linda Chu, Principal of Taipei Non-Profit Preschool. The Kindergarten students were accompanied by their homeroom teachers. Witnessing the event were parents from the three schools.

The program started with an invocation led by Fr. Augustine. Directress/Principal Sr. Jacqueline C. Manuel, O.P. delivered the welcoming remarks. She warmly greeted the audience and thanked the participants for their presence in this unique sports event. It was a momentous event to witness the first-ever sports competition dubbed ‘Kindilympics’ among kindergarten pupils from three different schools. She hoped every participant would have a great time. She blew the ‘ceremonial whistle’ to signify the start of the games.

The participating students assembled at the newly installed Bl. Frassati Sports Field. Each participating school gave a cheer that delighted the crowd. The games include a baton relay, tug-of-war, 50-meter sprint, and hula-hoop with parents. DIS Athletic Director Dr. Gustl Pido served as the game master, with Ms. Emily Lacangan as the timekeeper. Some teachers and students volunteered to assist in the game proper. Each school performed a dance number that amused the crowd.

At the end of the games, DIS Kindergarten students were declared overall champions. Ms. Emily Howe and Mr. Paul Li were the masters of ceremony. At the end of the event, the participants and visitors were given refreshments. Everyone is looking forward to the 2nd Kindilympics next year.
