Induction of Student Leaders

Dominican International School (DIS) formally welcomed its student leaders for the new school year on August 17, 2026, during the morning assembly, bringing together students entrusted with leadership roles across different divisions, organizations, and student activities. The induction ceremony celebrated not only their accomplishments in being chosen for these positions, but also the responsibility that comes with serving their classmates and contributing to the life of the school community. As they begin their terms, the newly inducted leaders are called to lead with integrity, compassion, responsibility, and a genuine spirit of service, reflecting the Dominican values that guide the DIS community. Through their leadership, they are expected to inspire their fellow students, strengthen school spirit, and help create a community where everyone is encouraged to participate, serve, and grow.

The ceremony brought together newly elected and appointed student leaders from various organizations and student groups, including the Student Council, Class Officers of the Lower School (LS), Middle School (MS), and High School (HS), Dominican Youth Movement, D'TORCH HOUSE Student Leaders, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), and the Dominican Athletic Committee.

With the approval of Directress/Principal Sr. Jacqueline Manuel, OP, the induction served as an important reminder that student leadership is not simply about holding a position, but about accepting the responsibility to serve as role models and contribute positively to the DIS community.

Leading the Student Council for another term is Joseph Lee, Grade 11, who returns as Student Council President for his second term. His continued leadership reflects the trust placed in him by the student body and provides valuable experience and continuity as the council begins another year of service.

As part of the induction, Student Council members were presented with an official Student Council pin, a visible symbol of their leadership and commitment to the school community. Members are expected to wear the pin during school days as a way of identifying themselves as official members of the Student Council. More than an emblem of office, the pin serves as a daily reminder of the responsibility they have accepted—to be visible, approachable, and accountable representatives of their fellow students.

Dr. Agosh Librea, Extra-Curricular Activities Coordinator, administered the oath to the Student Council, Class Officers, and the Dominican Youth Movement, as they formally pledged to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, dedication, and a spirit of service.

The D'TORCH HOUSE Student Leaders took their oath under the leadership of their coordinator, Ms. Archie Racadio, while Mr. Elliott Wakeling, coordinator of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), administered the oath to the newly inducted NJHS officers.

For the Dominican Athletic Committee, Dr. Van-Truong “John” Nguyen, Athletic Director, administered the oath to the athletic committee officers, welcoming them into their leadership roles and emphasizing their responsibility to promote teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and school spirit through athletics.

Each oath reflected the students' commitment to uphold the values of Dominican International School and to lead by example in their respective organizations. Whether serving their classmates, promoting Dominican values, supporting school initiatives, encouraging academic excellence, or strengthening school spirit through athletics, these student leaders have accepted the responsibility to make a positive impact on the DIS community.

As they begin their terms, the newly inducted leaders are encouraged to lead with confidence, humility, compassion, and a genuine commitment to service. With the guidance of their coordinators, teachers, and school administrators, they look forward to a school year filled with meaningful opportunities to serve, inspire, and lead.

The induction ceremony concluded with a shared sense of purpose, marking the beginning of a new chapter of student leadership at DIS. As these young leaders embrace their responsibilities, they carry forward a simple but powerful message: true leadership is not about standing above others, but standing with them in service.
