DIS Hosts Campus Safety Talk with Taipei City Police Department

12 November 2025

On November 12, 2025, Dominican International School (DIS) welcomed representatives from the Taipei City Police Department for a Campus Safety Talk, part of the city’s ongoing Crime Prevention Campaign. The event, carefully organized by the DIS Discipline Department, brought together students from all levels of the school to learn practical ways to stay safe, prevent bullying, and respond to emergencies. Through this initiative, DIS aimed to strengthen students’ awareness, build confidence in handling everyday risks, and foster a caring and supportive community where every student feels valued and protected.

To make the sessions meaningful for every age group, the talks were held in separate venues. Middle and High School students attended the session at the gymnasium, while Lower School students participated in age-appropriate sessions at the B1 Auditorium and the entrance lobby.

During the talks, police officers shared practical advice on staying safe both on campus and in daily life. Topics included situational awareness, stranger safety, cyber safety, bullying prevention, and making responsible choices. Students were encouraged to speak up, seek help from trusted adults, and support one another in creating a respectful and inclusive school community.

A key part of the discussion focused on emergency preparedness. Students learned how to respond calmly and effectively in unexpected situations, including lockdowns, natural emergencies, and other incidents. Officers emphasized teamwork, vigilance, and looking out for one another to ensure everyone’s safety.

The event was made possible through the dedicated leadership of the DIS Discipline Department, headed by Mr. Tank Tien, Prefect for Boys in the Middle and High School, with the strong support of Ms. Rebecca Wu, Prefect for Girls in the Middle and High School, and Mr. Mervin Villaroya, Prefect for the Lower School. Working closely as a team, they carefully planned and coordinated the sessions to ensure that each activity ran smoothly and that the safety topics were presented in ways that were meaningful and engaging for students of all ages.

Through interactive discussions and opportunities for students to ask questions, the Campus Safety Talk strengthened the partnership between DIS and the Taipei City Police Department, helping students gain confidence, awareness, and practical knowledge to make safe choices.

This initiative highlights Dominican International School’s ongoing dedication to fostering a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment, where every student feels empowered, valued, and protected—guided by care, community, and faith.
