Celebrating the life of Sister Zenaida


Sr. Ma. Zenaida T. Ancheta, OP was the Directress / Principal of DIS Taipei for the past 10 years. (2014 to 2023). She started her vocation in 1970 at the age of 18. She made her First Profession on January 1, 1973, five years later she made her Perpetual Profession. She was assigned to the Province of St. Vincent Ferrer, Taiwan in 1980. The Province of Ferrer includes Saipan and Guam, USA. She taught Religion, Music, and Art in numerous Catholic Schools both in Saipan and Guam.


She obtained her Master of Arts in Private School Administration from the University of San Francisco, USA in 2002. She was the Directress/Principal at Dominican Catholic School, Guam from 1996 to 2014.


In Dominican International School Taipei, she was the Directress / Principal from 2004 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2023. From 2018 to 2023 she served DIS Kaohsiung as the Directress / Principal. She was a Board member of the Blessed Imelda School in Taipei from 2015 to 2020. Together with Fr. Tomasz Zalewski, OP, they established the Dominican Laity, St. Martin de Porres Chapter which is based at Dominican International School Taipei. She was their Religious Promoter. She celebrated her Golden Jubilee last January 4, 2023.



She died on July 17, 2023. The whole DIS Taipei community mourns her passing. She will be missed by the entire community. To honor her leadership and guidance, the community gave her a simple tribute last August 28, 2023, entitled “Celebrating the Life of +Sor Ma. Zenaida T. Ancheta, OP”.


Jasper Chang, an alumnus from Batch 2021 presented a video that showed how grateful the other alumni were to Sr. Zenaida. The St. Martin de Porres Chapter members sang “Lift Up Your Hands”. Ms. Agosh Librea, Dr. Mercia de Souza, Ms. Archie Racadio, Ms. Coney Catalan Pido, Ms. Marygrace Crisostomo, and Mr. Ian Crisostomo took turns in sharing their fond memories with Sr. Zenaida. They mentioned their many happy moments and unforgettable experiences with Sr. Zenaida whether professional or personal. They said Sr. Zenaida is a remarkable person inside and out who is simple, enthusiastic, humble, and down-to-earth. Dr. Mercia mentioned Sr. Zenaida's memorable quote "For all that has been… Thank you, Lord. For all that will be… YOU!" The audience was a bit emotional as they heard the speakers' testimonies.


Mr. Samir Eddio, guitarist performed a John Denver medley. John Denver is Sr. Zenaida’s favorite singer. Performing “Remember Me” were Mr. Ronaldo Francisco and Ms. Zoe Lin, playing flute and piano respectively. Grade two students joined them in their performance.
