Students take part in coastal cleanup

The annual class year end field trip was scheduled last May 26. DIS got a permission from the Taipei Government to do a coastal cleanup. They decided to do the cleanup in Qianshuiwan Coastal Park, which is at the northern part of Taiwan and 90 minutes drive from the DIS. This field trip aims for the students and teachers to be constructively engaged and to make the year end trip more meaningful by doing environmental care.

The participants were:

  • Lower School - Pre-Kinder, Kinder, G3, G4 and G5
  • Middle School - G6, G7 and G8
  • High School - G9, G10, G11 and G12

The students where accompanied by 45 teachers led by Ms. Agosh and Ms. Petro, MS/HS Activity Coordinator and LS Activity Coordinator respectively. Each student were asked to bring following: raincoat (pocket size), hat, sunscreen, water and snacks. Gloves, tongs and trash bags were provided by the Taiwan government to all participants.

There were nine buses used in this event. The buses left DIS around 8:15 AM. They arrived in Qianshuiwan Coastal Park at 9:30 AM, the weather was cloudy. Some parents from lower school joined the trip as well. The students did not waste time because they were very eager to start the cleanup. The students had their lunch at the tents, beside the parking lot.
